emono is an open publishing platform for monographs, anthologies and series. It is operated by the University Library Basel. All publications on emono are Open Access, i.e. freely accessible and reusable. Authors who belong to the University of Basel can publish on emono.
For the publication of journals and for the secondary publication of digital publications, other publication platforms of the University Library Basel are more suitable. The open publishing platform eterna is available for publishing and managing open access journals. The edoc repository is available for the secondary publication of digital publications. The upload for edoc takes place via the UNIverse Research Information System of the University of Basel.

With emono, the University Library Basel provides an infrastructure for digital publications. It takes care of uploading and hosting the publications. It also ensures the allocation of persistent identifiers such as the Digital Object Identifier (DOI).
The University Library Basel, however, does not undertake any publishing activities. Proofreading, typesetting or obtaining third-party rights is the responsibility of the authors or editors. The University Library will advise you in this regard within the scope of its capabilities.
