Monasteries in Medieval Tuscany: the example of the Monte Pisano area

The Benedictine monasteries built in the Monte Pisano area between the tenth and twelfth centuries formed part of the great flourishing of monastic foundations that took place in those centuries, during which the creation of about 130 monasteries according to Benedictine rules was documented in Tuscany.
