Metal Ornaments in the Rural Sites of Northern Russia. Long Distance Trade or Local Metalwork?

The presented investigation of non-ferrous artefacts' collections from rural dwelling sites situated in the ancient Russian northern outland evidences convincingly that everyday life of its inhabitants was not confined to fur-hunting and life-subsistence only. Specialists in jeweller's craft also lived in northern hamlets. Their knowledge and skills provided the villagers with costume adornments made according to their liking, so as they had not to choose only from ones offered by their trade partners.
